Frequently Asked Questions
When should I RSVP by?
We ask that everyone has their RSVPs returned to us by the end of May, to give us time to arrange catering and chase up any late replies.
What is the dress code?
Formalwear (suits and dresses). Please don't wear jeans, trainers, etc.
Are there any colours you'd like me to wear?
While we don't expect you to dress to our scheme, we would like our guests to go all out. Brightly coloured dresses and ties are encouraged - the bolder, the better! We would also ask that you don't wear any white dresses or suits.
Where is the wedding taking place?
The entire wedding - ceremony, reception, and evening party - will be taking place at Hemswell Court.
Is the venue accessible?
The entire wedding will be taking place on the ground floor. There are accessible ground-floor bedrooms available - if you require one, please let us know. There are two steps up to the front doors, but we will confirm if there is a non-step entrance. The groomsmen will be on-hand during the day to provide any assistance you may require.
Will the ceremony be indoors or outdoors?
The ceremony will be indoors, to avoid any potential bad weather. Pictures may be taken outside, weather dependent.
What will the weather be like?
If you want an answer to this, you will need to provide your own crystal ball. The average temperature in September is 14 degrees, with 8.7 days of rain. Hopefully our wedding day won't be one of these, but we can't guarantee anything.
How can I book a room?
Rooms are being prioritised to the wedding party, immediate family and those with accessibility requirements. After this, rooms will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. Details for booking any rooms will be included with your invitations.
What other hotels are in the area?
Unfortunately we cannot accommodate everyone at Hemswell Court (unless some of you are happy sharing a bed with strangers!), so here are some hotels and B&Bs in the area:
Will there be a shuttle to/from other hotels?
Currently, there is nothing arranged. Taxis are typically easily bookable to and from Lincoln.
Can I bring a plus one?
If your invitation does not include a plus one, then unfortunately we cannot accommodate one for you. We have invited those who are nearest and dearest to us to celebrate with us.
Can I bring children?
If your invitation does not include children, then unfortunately we cannot accommodate them. We would be happy to provide details for vetted childcare options in the area if you still wish to attend.
Will there be meal options for those with dietary restrictions?
Of course! If you have any dietary restrictions, please let us know and we can ensure you are provided with a meal that meets them.
Will there be an open bar?
We will be providing prosecco and non-alcoholic drinks for toasting, and we will also provide a limited number of drinks for the wedding breakfast and evening party.
Can I have a link to your registry?
We have decided to not have a registry, and the only presents we require from you is your presence. If you would still like to contribute, cash donations towards our honeymoon would be greatly appreciated.
What is the itinerary for the day?
Our itinerary is likely to change, but currently, the plan is as follows:
2pm - ceremony begins
2:30pm - photographs, drinks, and canapes
4pm - speeches
4:30pm - wedding breakfast
6pm - afterparty
11:30pm - carriages and wheelbarrows
What time should I be at the venue?
We would ask that everyone be at the venue no later than 1:30pm. If you are later than this, we may be unable to let you into the ceremony.
Where can I park?
There is plenty of free parking available at the venue.
Can I take pictures or videos?
Of course! We will be providing QR codes to upload your photos online to share with us. The only exception is during the ceremony - we will have professional photographers and videographers capturing every second, so we ask that you put your phones away and enjoy the moment with us. During the rest of the day, please feel free to take as many pictures and videos as you wish.
Will you be livestreaming the wedding?
Unfortunately not, but if anyone cannot attend, or wishes to relive it, we will be uploading the video of our ceremony on our website to enjoy afterwards.
What health and safety measures will be in place?
We will be asking that anyone who is ill to please inform us as early as possible, as we may or may not allow you to attend, depending on your symptoms. Anyone who is concerned about catching anything may of course wear a face mask, with no questions asked.
Are there any local places you can recommend while we are in town?
We have a list of recommendations on our Home page.
Can I make any requests for songs to be played?
Absolutely, we would love to hear your requests. We will endeavour to accommodate as many as is reasonable. Please use our Request a Song page to make your requests.
I have a question that isn't answered here!
Please use the Contact Us page to send us your question, and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
